Head of EMEA Media Relations
CBRE Investment Management (“CBRE IM”) has appointed Saskia de Nie as Urban Destinations Asset Operations Lead, with responsibility for driving operational excellence across the firm’s office and retail portfolios.
In her new role, Saskia will oversee operational strategy and performance across CBRE IM’s Urban Destinations platform, working closely with asset management, investment teams and operating partners to enhance occupier experience, optimise asset performance, and support long-term value creation for investors.
Saskia has worked at CBRE IM for more than a decade, holding several senior roles across its European office and retail business. Most recently, she was Asset Management Development Lead EMEA Urban Destinations and Head of Asset Management Belgium and Netherlands Offices. In these roles, she was responsible for aligning the execution of asset management across CBRE IM’s EMEA retail and office teams and was also responsible for leading a team of asset and development managers in overseeing office portfolios in Belgium and the Netherlands.
This appointment supports CBRE IM’s investor-operator approach, bringing together investment expertise with specialist, on-the-ground operating capabilities. Within its Urban Destinations division, CBRE IM combines its retail and office expertise to meet the evolving requirements of occupiers and end-users, creating assets with long-term relevance that increasingly need to be ‘urban destinations’ to remain viable and appealing. Combining CBRE IM’s retail and office experience also means it is offering a unique proposition to investors, occupiers, and tenants, while leveraging its in-house expertise to approach these asset classes holistically.
CBRE IM’s Urban Destinations platform comprises more than €17 billion of assets under management across 12 European countries, reflecting the scale of the firm’s integrated retail and office operating model.
Eric Decouvelaere, Head of EMEA Urban Destinations Operator Division, said: “Operational expertise is central to creating long-term value across our office and retail portfolios. Saskia brings deep knowledge of our platform to this role, as well as extensive asset management experience and a strong understanding of our markets. Her appointment will help us strengthen operational excellence and deliver better outcomes for occupiers and investors.”
Commenting on her appointment, Saskia de Nie said: “One of the real strengths of CBRE IM’s platform is the depth of expertise we have across different markets. Bringing these insights together and sharing best practices gives us an opportunity to enhance both the occupier experience and asset performance. I look forward to working closely with our teams across Europe to develop the Urban Destinations platform, whilst working to drive long-term value.”
