Professional Experience
Jan-Willem Bastijn is Head of Transactions for EMEA Direct Real Estate. In this role, Jan-Willem leads and oversees the multi-sector transaction platform, responsible for securing “needle-moving” acquisitions, delivering on all legacy disposals and matching the firm’s strongest investment ideas at scale with new capital.
Prior to joining the firm in 2023, Jan-Willem worked at Cushman & Wakefield for more than 20 years, most recently as Chair of Capital Markets EMEA with a focus on servicing pan-regional investors and leading cross-border investment transactions at scale.
In that role, Jan-Willem transformed Cushman & Wakefield’s capital markets group into a full-service provider covering all sectors and geographies.
Jan-Willem has spent time with many major investment clients around the world and has a strong deal track-record in many different asset classes.
Jan-Willem earned a Master of Arts degree in Contemporary American History/Political Science from the University of Leiden and a Master’s degree in Real Estate from the University of Amsterdam. He is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
