Bernie McNamara is Head of Client Solutions for CBRE Investment Management. Bernie joined the team in 2018 and oversees client activities, fundraising and portfolio solutions globally. Bernie’s team is responsible for the firm’s average annual $13 billion+ capital raise, and real assets portfolio solutions design and construction offering. Bernie brings "art and science" to portfolio construction, partnering with the Insights & Intelligence research and investment teams to deliver on clients’ objectives.
Bernie has spent decades advising on complex asset allocation challenges and matching client needs with investment solutions by developing advanced portfolio models. An English major in college, Bernie is a natural communicator and passionate relationship builder. He excels at collaborating with his colleagues to turn data, insights and intelligence into compelling solutions for investors.
Bernie joined the firm from J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he most recently served as Global Head of Alternatives Investment Strategy and Solutions. There, he crafted and implemented multi-asset portfolio solutions across alternative investments, including global real estate, infrastructure, private equity and other categories, for institutional and retail investors globally. He was a partner in a student housing development firm before joining J.P. Morgan to launch its real assets solutions program. Bernie joined the investment management industry in 1996. An early innovator in the 529 college savings plans, Bernie is also a successful entrepreneur who built a technology and services firm that was later acquired by Sallie Mae to support program administration.
Bernie holds both a Bachelor of Arts and MBA from Harvard University.
