Professional Experience
Alex is the indirect real estate team's Head of Global Transaction Management. In this role, he manages the team's transaction approval process and is chairperson of its Investment Committee and Global Investment Team meetings. Alex also chairs the group's sub-committee that assesses the due diligence carried out on transactions prior to deal execution. Furthermore, Alex is responsible for the Investment Oversight Committee, which reviews the existing investments held on behalf of the indirect team's clients. He is a member of the Indirect Real Estate Executive Committee and was previously the group's Region Head of UK. Alex Bignell joined CBRE Investment Management's Indirect Real Estate Strategies business in 2012 and is based in London.
Alex began his career in the real estate industry in 1994. Immediately prior to joining CBRE Investment Management, he was Fund Manager of the Goodman European Logistics Fund, with responsibility for acquisitions, dispositions, debt financing, equity raising and investors relations. Before Goodman, Alex was a Director of Real Estate Investment Banking at Credit Suisse and a Director at Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance. After qualifying as a chartered surveyor, in 1997, Alex was an analyst at Cazenove stockbrokers and an associate of real estate investment banking at Morgan Stanley. He has a range of experience across the real estate industry spanning direct, indirect and listed real estate and both advisory and principal roles.
Alex holds a Master’s degree in Land Economy and is a graduate of Jesus College, University of Cambridge. He is a Senior Manager under the FCA’s Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR), and holds the SMF3.
