Professional Experience

Todd Sammann serves as CIO - Credit Strategies for CBRE Investment Management, overseeing investment strategy, acquisitions, portfolio management, analytics and performance measurement across regions. He is also a Portfolio Manager for a fund the firm sponsors.

Having studied architecture and urban planning at university, Todd has always been fascinated by how societies organize and express themselves through the built environment. This interest led Todd to his career in real estate investment management, which has spanned more than 25yrs. He’s passionate about building businesses, solving complex challenges and delivering value to investors through market cycles.

Prior to joining CBRE Investment Management, Todd was founder and Managing Principal of Narrative Capital, a commercial real estate debt fund, from 2015-2018. He chaired the firm’s investment committee and had overall responsibility for investment activity and portfolio management. Prior to forming Narrative, Todd was Principal and Head of Credit Strategies at Colony Capital from 2008-2015, which invested USD 5 Billion across a variety of credit strategies during his tenure. Previously, he was Managing Director and Head of North American Large Loan Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities at Deutsche Bank from 2002-2008, where he oversaw the origination of more than USD 50 Billion of structured real estate financings and served as a member of the firm’s global Group Executive Committee. Previously, Todd served as Vice President within Goldman, Sachs & Co.’s real estate investment banking unit from 1996-2002.

Todd earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Business Administration degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
