Desmond Tan is the Chief Operating Officer for CBRE Investment Management's Asia Pacific region. Based in Singapore, he has overall responsibility for management of the operations and administration in the region, including investment structuring, capital markets, finance and tax structuring activities for the Firm’s business across the region. He is also a member of the Regional Executive Committee and APAC Direct Real Estate Investment Committee.
Desmond joined the firm (then ING Real Estate Investment Management) in 2007. He has many years of experience in the industry across different real estate classes.
Desmond has been doing finance-related work since 1993, holding various portfolios in companies listed on the Singapore Exchange and multinational corporations in various sectors, namely audit, consumer products, manufacturing and petroleum. Prior to joining the Firm, Desmond was with one of Asia’s largest real estate company, where he was involved in the establishment and origination of real estate property funds and was responsible for financial operations of few of the funds, as well as overseeing the group consolidation and reporting, performance analysis and coordination of budget and strategic financial planning.
Desmond holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) degree from Murdoch University in Western Australia. He is also a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
